Wootton Blue Cross v Barton Rovers

Bedfordshire Senior Cup Preliminary Round

Programme Price: Not Stated

Its back to the 1987/88 season for my review today and this programme issued for a Bedfordshire Senior Cup Preliminary Round game between Wootton Blue Cross FC and Barton Rovers. The programme consists of eight pages from the front to back cover and whilst it is light on information, I still enjoyed having a flick through.

With page 1 being the front cover the following page provides a list of club officials at Wootton Blue Cross. At the time of writing the chairman of the club was named as A. Brittain whilst the 1st team manager was R. Shreeves.

Page 3 sees an article written by the club’s fixture secretary Mark Smith. The writer begins his piece by welcoming all to the game and explains that the last time Wootton Blue Cross won the Bedfordshire Senior Cup was back in the 1970/1971 season. He also looks ahead to his club’s next fixtures which would be a home game for the first team against Spalding United whilst the reserves would be travelling to Brache Sparta.

Pages 4 and 5 provide the team line ups with the referee being named as Mr. G. Leach from Bedford. Whoever picked this programme up on the day of the game inserted the final score into this section of the programme which has been recorded as a 2-1 victory for Wootton Blue Cross.

Page 6 shows results from games played on the Saturday prior to this cup match. A game in the FA Vase saw Burnham winning away by 2 goals to 1 at Kempston whilst a game in the UCL Premier Division saw St Neots beating Stamford 1-0. This programme then concludes with two pages of adverts.
